Warner Cemetery

Warner / Wapping Cemetery

Alongside the noise and chaos of I-84, a tiny cemetery sits quietly near exit 13. The cemetery has been known by a couple of different names, the Wapping Cemetery and the Warner Cemetery. Of the 16 graves, 10 belong to the Warner family, spanning from 1829 to 1877. However, the first two people buried here were from the Curtis family, who both died in 1813.

During the expansion of I-84, a sharp-eyed resident noticed that a truck was dumping rocks and dirt on top of the graves. Working quickly, they immediately alerted the town and state officials and the possible destruction of the cemetery was averted.
